Is this the end of Ogilvy's?

Will Selfridges Group finally kill off Ogilvy's in Montreal? It begins to look more and more like it. The British retailer owns both Holt Renfrew and Ogilvy's. It apparently plans to move HR into the present Ogilvy's premises (left). Then the fashionable Art Deco home of Holt Renfrew (seen at right in 1937) would become condos. Many shoppers say that Ogilvy's has never been able to shake off the Anglo image that made it a place to avoid for French-speaking Montrealers. The Gazette
